Claire McCarthy Wins Silver at the 2025 Novi Sad WSPS Grand Prix | Claire McCarthy remporte la médaille d'argent au Grand Prix WSPS 2025 de Novi Sad
The Shooting Federation of Canada is proud to recognize the outstanding performance of Claire McCarthy at the 2025 Novi Sad World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) Grand Prix, held from August 26th - September 1st, 2025, in Novi Sad, Serbia.
Competing in the SH1 classification, Claire represented Canada in four rifle events:
R2 – 10m Air Rifle Standing
R3 – 10m Air Rifle Prone
R6 – 50m Smallbore Prone
R8 – 50m Smallbore 3-Position
Claire’s highlight of the competition came in the R8 – 50m Smallbore 3-Position event, where she earned the silver medal. She also achieved an impressive sixth-place finish in the R2 – 10m Air Rifle Standing, demonstrating consistency and competitiveness against a strong international field.
Importantly, McCarthy now holds the Minimum Qualifying Scores in all four events she competed in, securing her eligibility for the 2026 World Championships in Changwon, Korea.
Reflecting on her performance, McCarthy shared:
“I’m really happy with my overall performance at the recent World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) Grand Prix in Novi Sad, Serbia! Winning silver in 50m 3-Position (R8) and placing sixth in 10m Standing (R2) were incredible highlights, especially at an event that featured athletes from more than 20 countries across the world. It was definitely a very positive experience and a valuable opportunity to be able to watch and learn from athletes from around the world. I’m excited to take this experience and use it as I continue to work and prepare for future competitions!”

La Fédération de tir du Canada est fière de souligner la performance exceptionnelle de Claire McCarthy au Grand Prix WSPS (World Shooting Para Sport) 2025 de Novi Sad, qui s'est déroulé du 26 août au 1er septembre 2025 à Novi Sad, en Serbie.
Concourant dans la catégorie SH1, Claire a représenté le Canada dans quatre épreuves de tir à la carabine :
R2 – Carabine à air comprimé 10 m debout
R3 – Carabine à air comprimé 10 m couché
R6 – Carabine de petit calibre 50 m couché
R8 – Carabine de petit calibre 50 m 3 positions
Le moment fort de la compétition pour Claire a été le R8 – Carabine de petit calibre 50 m 3 positions, où elle a remporté la médaille d'argent. Elle a également obtenu une impressionnante sixième place au R2 – Carabine à air comprimé 10 m debout, faisant preuve de constance et de compétitivité face à des adversaires internationaux de haut niveau.
Il est important de noter que McCarthy détient désormais les scores minimums de qualification dans les quatre épreuves auxquelles elle a participé, ce qui lui assure sa qualification pour les Championnats du monde 2026 à Changwon, en Corée.
Revenant sur sa performance, McCarthy a déclaré :
« Je suis vraiment satisfaite de ma performance globale lors du récent Grand Prix World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) à Novi Sad, en Serbie ! Remporter la médaille d'argent au 50 m 3 positions (R8) et terminer sixième au 10 m debout (R2) ont été des moments forts incroyables, surtout lors d'une compétition qui réunissait des athlètes de plus de 20 pays à travers le monde. Ce fut sans aucun doute une expérience très positive et une occasion précieuse de pouvoir observer et apprendre auprès d'athlètes du monde entier. Je suis impatiente de mettre à profit cette expérience et de l'utiliser pour continuer à travailler et à me préparer pour les compétitions à venir ! »
