The Shooting Federation of Canada (SFC) is pleased to announce the launch of a new coaching level – Community Coach.

Community Coach is an easily accessible entry level coaching option for individuals looking to have a broad introduction to the sport of shooting.

This new level is a perfect option for a variety of situations:

  • Smaller clubs looking to grow their coaching knowledge and experience
  • Parents, or new to the sport participants, looking to gain a base level broad knowledge base for the sport
  • Clubs looking to expand into ISSF shooting events
  • Individuals unsure if they want to get into coaching
  • Waiting for an Instructor-Beginner Course to be offered that works for them and want a head start
  • And many more.

All components of the Community Coaching level are offered in an eLearning platform that individuals can complete at their own pace on their own time.  To become trained as a Community Coach, individuals will complete a base module and then also a module specific to the discipline they are interested in coaching, rifle and pistol modules are available now, shotgun will be released in the coming months.

In addition to the SFC designed shooting specific modules, coaches will need to complete required multi-sport National Coaching Certification Program modules (NCCP) to receive trained status.

After being trained in the Community Coach level, for individuals wishing to pursue more coaching, they can join the Instructor-Beginner coaching program and those multi-sport modules will be credited towards their certification status at Instructor-Beginner.

SFC is pleased to offer this new option for our community to help grow the coaching knowledge and support available.  For more information, please see our coaching page   or reach out to Lisa Roddie.
