Safety should always be at the forefront of all activity at our shooting clubs, events and activities. How we as a shooting sport community plan and prepare for safety includes a wide range of areas from firearm and range safety as well as overall operational safety.
SFC wants to support all of our related organizations and ensure overall participant safety. We encourage each organization to have the following in place with key leaders trained and understanding each item:
- Emergency Procedures
- First Aid Kits
- Fire Extinguishers and Fire Safety Plan (in accordance with municipality)
- Concussion Policy
- Code of Conduct and comprehensive Safe Sport Policies
- Incident Report Forms (and a process to manage confidential follow up)
- Workplace Safety Policies and Insurance coverage for employees and participants
- Plans and Best Practices for maintenance of first aid and fire safety equipment
Concussions
Moving around the range or before coming to shooting practice, concussions can occur anywhere and being knowledgeable and aware can help ensure a smoother recovery and prevent the long-term damage that a concussion could cause.
Shooting Federation’s Concussion Policy is located here
Other Concussion Resources we encourage you to utilize:
