The Shooting Federation of Canada is proud to recognize the outstanding performance of Claire McCarthy at the 2025 Novi Sad World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) Grand Prix, held from August 26th – September 1st, 2025, in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Competing in the SH1 classification, Claire represented Canada in four rifle events:

R2 – 10m Air Rifle Standing
R3 – 10m Air Rifle Prone
R6 – 50m Smallbore Prone
R8 – 50m Smallbore 3-Position
Claire’s highlight of the competition came in the R8 – 50m Smallbore 3-Position event, where she earned the silver medal. She also achieved an impressive sixth-place finish in the R2 – 10m Air Rifle Standing, demonstrating consistency and competitiveness against a strong international field.

Importantly, McCarthy now holds the Minimum Qualifying Scores in all four events she competed in, securing her eligibility for the 2026 World Championships in Changwon, Korea.

Reflecting on her performance, McCarthy shared:

“I’m really happy with my overall performance at the recent World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) Grand Prix in Novi Sad, Serbia! Winning silver in 50m 3-Position (R8) and placing sixth in 10m Standing (R2) were incredible highlights, especially at an event that featured athletes from more than 20 countries across the world. It was definitely a very positive experience and a valuable opportunity to be able to watch and learn from athletes from around the world. I’m excited to take this experience and use it as I continue to work and prepare for future competitions!”

The Shooting Federation of Canada congratulates Claire on her medal performance and qualifying scores, and looks forward to supporting her as she continues her journey toward the 2026 World Championships.
