    REGISTRATION: https://forms.gle/Pewb2CgBKS4m2vb26
    SCORE SUBMISSION: https://forms.gle/M3ADXyY25r5eNZLJA

With the current situation we are all facing across the country, we would like to invite anyone and everyone who is able to participate in a Community Satellite Event in your discipline.

We will also be hosting our yearly section meeting that would normally occur at the National Championships at the end of the first day of competition for each discipline (Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun). Each meeting will be attended by:

    • Current Section Chair in each discipline

      • Guillaume Pare [Rifle]

      • Susan Nattrass [Shotgun]

      • Shane Staniek [Pistol]

    • Michel Poitras (VP Domestic and Operations),

    • Connor Deneka-Burns (Domestic Programs Coordinator),

    • Susan Verdier (Technical Director),

    • Joey Hutton (Administrator and High Performance Assistant)

    • Lisa Deneka (VP High Performance)

    • National Team Coach

A proposed agenda for each Section meeting will be circulated prior to the meeting. We will open the floor to our members to answer any questions you may have during this difficult time.

Anyone and everyone who has the ability to participate is welcomed and encouraged to do so. Whether you have access to your local club/range, are able to shoot your event in your basement or garage, have access to a SCATT machine, we want EVERYONE to participate.

In order to keep some consistency between competitors, we ask that all scores for Air Rifle and 50m Prone Rifle be submitted in decimal as per ISSF rules. If you shoot on paper targets, you can use “Target Scan” on your phone or tablet to get your total in decimal. Scores will be submitted based on the honour system. We believe in the integrity of competition and trust that all competitors will be transparent in the submission of their scores.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do we submit scores?

A: All scores must be submitted within 1 hour of your event ending (ex: Women’s Air Pistol scores must be submitted no later than 3:15PM EST) and will be submitted to the SFC using this form:https://forms.gle/VMJbhxkujwGAqPsw7

Q: Is it mandatory to participate in the virtual meeting prior to the event?

A: No, this is not mandatory. If you are able to join and say hi prior to your event, that would be great! We wanted to give everyone the opportunity to see people as if we were there together. If you do not have access to an internet connection at your range, or wherever you are shooting, don’t worry about it! You are still welcome to shoot the event and submit your scores.

Q: How do we use Jitsi Meet?

A: A bilingual Jitsi Quick Guide was created and can be accessed here:

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/17jyjuh6QAQMPIxc97DeE2y8n8En4mMAnQ9vIoUgfhfo/edit?usp=sharing

If you encounter problems with the sound or video, click on « More actions » to set the video quality. If you don't have High speed Internet, try «Low definition» and if it is not better, go to «Low bandwith» (note that this last setting will automatically disable your camera).

Q: When will results be posted/winners announced?

A: Winners for each event will be announced via email to all competitors no later than the Monday after the events. Winners and results will also be posted to the SFC website News Feed.

Q: Who can attend the Section Meeting?

A: Any athlete, coach, volunteer, official, etc is welcome to attend. An agenda for the section meetings will be sent out prior to the meeting. The Rifle discipline agenda has already been sent out and can also be found attached again to this email.

Q: Why are the Shotgun events listed as “local time” when the other disciplines have scheduled start times?
A: In discussion with the Shotgun Section Chair (Susan Nattrass) we determined this would make the most sense to ensure that athletes from across the country have access to their ranges. The Shotgun discipline is the most limited when it comes to where they can shoot.

The virtual meeting rooms will remain open for the Shotgun athletes to participate and chat if they wish, but the room will not be monitored the same way as the Pistol and Rifle rooms.

Q: Will this event count towards classification?

A: Yes. All scores will be entered by the SFC into the classification document once all events have completed

    Hello High Performance Team Members,

I hope this letter finds you well during this unprecedented time.  So much going on, so much history being made as the world slowly starts turning again.  Please remember to stay safe and adhere to the parameters outlined by your local governments.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce a new team member to the High Performance Program.  We have recently contracted Chloe Gagnon as our Mental Performance Consultant.  Chloe is a graduate of the University of Ottawa with a Masters Degree in Human Kinetics.  She has worked with the Women’s and Men’s National Paralympic Goalball Teams and a variety of provincial Ringette teams.  Prior to receiving her Masters in Human Kinetics, Chloe was a Physical Trainer/Kinesiologist for “Ringfit” and “Ringtech” Programs and a Sport Administrator for Baseball Canada. She is fully bilingual and recognizes the importance of teamwork and collaboration with athletes, coaches and other multidisciplinary staff.

Chloe will be presenting monthly Mental Performance sessions via BlueJeans (look for her emails, coming soon!) and it is our hope that she becomes a long-term asset for our athletes, building relationships, developing and implementing mental performance strategies, identifying athlete strengths and weaknesses that contribute to or affect performances and exploring innovative approaches to performance enhancement. Chloe will also be working on a one-on-one basis with some of our Next Gen athletes as a pilot program. Please join me in making Chloe feel welcome.

Finally, please make sure you are taking care of yourself.  Self care during this time is vitally important.  Put your mental, emotional and physical health at the forefront of your daily activities.  Good self care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety.  Take care and we hope to see you on the range soon!

    Lisa Deneka

    VP, High Performance

    Hello,

I am pleased to inform you that the SFC Executive Committee has approved the release of the new classification system for rifle and pistol shooters. The classification policy has been revised to reflect this change.
Here are the main advantages of this system:
    • Automatically adjusted classification according to the last 3 results in competition
    • Everyone will be able to view the document
    • Only those who have been provided access will have the ability to edit the document
    Classification Policy

    Rifle Classification System (bilingual)
    Pistol Classification System (bilingual)

The new policy provides for the introduction of a new "Tyro" class for beginners and also gives competition managers a little more flexibility with regard to the classification of shooters who are in their first competition.

The new system requires a Google Account for everyone who will be allowed to update it. Please note that a Google Account can be created using the existing personal email address (no need to create a Gmail account).
Online training sessions may be offered to people expressing the need. Please contact Connor Deneka: cdeneka@sfc-ftc.ca for any request regarding this new system.

Hoping that everything meets your expectations.

    Michel Poitras
    Vice President Domestic and Operations
    The Shooting Federation of Canada

    Dear members,

Find attached Sandra Honour, president of the Shooting Federation of Canada's letter to Bill Blair regarding the recent ban on certain types of firearms in Canada.

SFC Letter to Minister Blair re: SOR2020-96 - EN

  • 1 Apr 1900 12:00 AM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

OTTAWA, ON, 4/1/2022: The Shooting Federation of Canada decided today to introduce the Olympic Discipline of 10M WP at the July NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. The event is for both men and women. This exciting new sport will use pneumatic aquatic propulsion. Similar to air pistols, these “aqua-arms” will project very precise burst of water to electronic targets.

The manufacturers Walther and Styer are presenting their prototypes in the coming weeks.  Until then, the SFC recommends that athletes practice with high quality water pistols that can be found in better toy stores. The RCMP has indicated that a special WP License (and fee) might be introduced in the future but says that current regulations permit water pistols at approved ranges and may be transported legally if locked and without water. There are no colour restrictions.
